Mood boards are so inspiring when it comes to 'conspiring' sewing plans! They may evolve and change as one’s work continues.
This is a board I started the summer of ’19 which I recently updated. I originally worked off a palette of reds, black and white of a Japanese sensibility. This last spring, I began to expand the color palette while still hanging on to the Japanese thread for instance, the colorful feed-sack style fabric Japanese print dress (top left). I have drawn connections to projects I have since completed with a shot of a project in progress (the red 1930’s step-in, below left).
The Mood Board below reflects patterns I was working up to offer in the EvaDress collection along with swatches and ideas for my personal sewing competition entries. These boards covered much of the wall, dating to 2014:
Another form of 'Mood Board' is my inspiration clothesline. It's been a part of my sewing room since 2012. I change out or add colors, textures and photos that may pertain directly to sewing projects in process or otherwise inspire:
For this (as the LAST EvaDress) pattern challenge, I invite you to create a mood board from which you will sew and show us completed projects. You will first post your mood board any time before the challenge kick-off which is 12:01 a.m. EST, October 20, 2020. You are able to change your mood boards at any time throughout the challenge and you are encouraged to share those changes with us by posting them.
It was a dear member of the family, Olivia who is a brilliant artist that recommended I put on a Mood Board Challenge, so here is!
You are to exclusively use any EvaDress sewing pattern(s) to create your men’s or women’s garment(s), as presented in your mood board. Accessories (hats, bags, etc.) are not counted as an individual project, but may accompany garments in a submission. Patterns may be altered to create new designs other than those originally intended by the original pattern. For instance, I used jus the kimono style bodice of a 1932 dress to create a blouse by adding a peplum at the waist line (blouse at lower left in Mood board photo).ENTER BY CLICKING HERE. Mood boards may be started and posted any time from now through October 20, 2020. Sewing projects may not be started earlier than 12:01 a.m. EST (9:01 a.m. MST) on October 20, 2020 although a muslin for fitting may be created any time before the challenge kick-off date. No purchase necessary to enter, so EvaDress patterns from stash are fair game! The closing date to submit sewing projects is 11:59 p.m. EST (9:59 p.m. MST) on January 20, 2021.
The better the garment is fit, the higher consideration for placing as a finalist.
Depending on the number of entries, a few finalists will be selected based on quality of construction (construction detail shots are a must), accuracy to the challenge guidelines and overall design and creativity.
One top finalist will receive a $120 non-expiring gift certificate good toward total purchase (with tax and/or shipping) at EvaDress Patterns.

Projects submitted to other group pattern challenges are welcome, provided they are made with EvaDress Patterns and otherwise fit into the challenge parameters and time frame stated here.
The top finalist will be notified on the event wall by 11:59 p.m. EST, January 25, 2021.
NOTE: By entering this challenge you agree that your submission photos/descriptions may be used in the gallery on the EvaDress web site or elsewhere as promotional material (including print) for EvaDress.
Once you are a part of this group, you can enter by posting your Mood Board photo under the Discussion tab. Add subsequent high quality project photos (longest edge of photo to be 11” and at least 150dpi) including front, back, side views and construction/design details in the comments section under your Mood Board photo. Be sure to write what pattern(s) you used, why you chose the project you did. I am happy to post submissions for those who do not use FaceBook. Submissions for non-FaceBook users may be sent via e-mail (evadressATcableone.net) containing photos and description, as outlined above.
