8-piece pattern originally by McCall, the dinner dress may be cut in longer or shorter length (as a cocktail dress or or day wear). Long fitted, short cap or short, shaped sleeves may be used.This, as do many of my patterns comes with fully illustrated instructions for construction and finishing. 3/8" seams are allowed. 6-piece pattern for advanced sewers.  Originally by Hollywood, 'A shaped stomacher panel joins to the skirt to the gathered blouse section, which has a low back décolletage.  An optional soft sash is pulled through a ring at the V-neck in front and wraps about the body to knot at the waistline in the back, falling in long ends to train length.'     1/2" seams are given. A frock with a little of everything from its uneven hem full of godets to beaded straps!  I designed this pattern based on the color rendering originally sketched by a pattern company artist at a runway show in 1930.  The caption written on the original reads:'Dinner Gown of shaded pale green tulle, combined with lace, edged with pearls.  Chic Model, N.Y. Hollywood’. Pattern Tour E30-744, 1930's Dinner Gown & Cape

This 5-piece pattern is for the dinner gown with incorporated cape via buttonhole at the front of the bust. Strongly resembles the velvet gown Cate Blanchett wears in the latest Noir film, Nightmare Alley! Fullness is provided for the bust with double darts and cinching at the center front where the cape threads through.  A line of elastic is sewn into the upper edge of the un-structured bodice back to hold it in place.  The cape may be worn on or off the shoulders and a godet adds fullness to the otherwise close-fitting bias skirt.
