Acc30-3275; 1935 Motoring Cap & Gloves

11-piece digitally-drafted pattern originally by Beyer’s Modenblatt, this Motoring Cap and Gloves is best sewn by hand in leather or fabrics cut on the bias.  The cap was originally designed in red leather with black lining and black stitching.  The gloves were originally designed with a red leather upper section and thumb and a black lower section.  They have a godet at the lower top edge for ease of wearing and are nipped above almost to the finger forks.  NOTE: Using a washable transfer paper (such as wax-free Saral) is recommended between this paper pattern and the glove material to transfer all lines and markings so the gloves can be cut and stitched.

RECOMMENDED MATERIALS: Leather, faux leather, light suede, felt.  Or, fabrics such as: gingham, jersey, linen, cotton broadcloth.

 1/8" seams are given on the gloves, 5/8" seams are given on the cap.

Hat size 23" and Glove size 7.  

Measure your head with a cloth dressmaker’s tape about ½” above your eyebrows where the hat will rest.  If you are without a tape measure, use a piece of string and measure it against a yard stick.  Err on the larger size if your measurement is not exact.  See diagram.

To find your glove measurement, measure around the widest part of the hand (usually around the knuckles at the base of the fingers).  See thumbnail.
