1940's EvaDress Pattern Challenge!

Win a $150 certificate to EvaDress.com by entering the EvaDress 1940's Pattern Challenge!

This is a sewing pattern challenge to create men’s or women’s garments from 1940’s EvaDress patterns. Accessories (hats, bags, etc.) are not counted as an individual project, but may accompany garments in a submission. Participants may each enter more than one project for this challenge.

Projects may not be started earlier than 12:01 a.m. EST on March 1, 2019 although a muslin for fitting may be created any time before the challenge kick-off date. No purchase necessary to enter, so 1940's EvaDress patterns from stash are fair game! The closing date to submit projects for this challenge is 11:59p.m. EST on May 1, 2019.

The more complicated the project, the higher consideration for placing as a finalist.

Charity Armstead is a guest-juror on this challenge.  She is Assistant Professor, Fashion Merchandising Program Director at Brenau University who studied Historic/Cultural Dress & Textiles at the University of Georgia.  For her Doctorate, she presented her dissertation, “Presenting a Retro Appearance Through Sewing for Oneself”.

Depending on the number of entries, a few finalists will be selected based on good fit, overall design with projects remaining devout to the original pattern style lines and quality of construction (construction detail shots are a must)!  Show us the nitty-gritty behind your work with in-progress shots as you bind your scalloped edges, create your bound button holes and the like!
One top finalist will receive a $150 non-expiring gift certificate good toward total purchase (with tax and/or shipping) at EvaDress Patterns.

Projects submitted to other challenges are welcome, provided they fit into the challenge parameters and time frame stated here.
Log on to Facebook.com and I encourage you to join my challenge group on FaceBook in order to submit your project for consideration.  The top finalist will be notified on the event wall by 11:59p.m., May 5, 2019.

Those who are subscribed on the EvaDress e-mail update list, and anyone who completes an entry in the challenge will automatically be entered into a drawing to win the next new multi-size pattern in a give-away, the 1956 Mermaid Evening Gown, originally by McCall's!  You also earn an automatic entry into the drawing upon purchasing a pattern to create an entry in the challenge.

See entries from a previous 40's Challenge here!

NOTE: By entering this challenge you agree that your submission photos/descriptions may be used in the gallery on the EvaDress web site or elsewhere as promotional material for EvaDress.
